Point Aux Barques Lighthouse and Lakeshore, Lake Huron, Michigan
The Point Aux Barques ("Point of the Little Boats") Light is located at the very tip of "The Thumb" on Michigan's Lower Peninsula, on the Lake Huron Shore north of Detroit. This marks the effective entrance to the huge Saginaw Bay to the west, as approached from the south. The shoreline rocks look rust colored due to their iron ore content.
