Rounding Brant Point: Approaching Nantucket, Massachusetts

The town of Nantucket sits on the harborfront on the north side of Nantucket Island. Although much slower, the ferry from Hyannis on Cape Cod is the more reliable transportation to "The Rock", as the dense fogs can ground plane flights anytime of the year.

The ferry trip from Hyannis, Massachusetts is over two hours long. Sit back and enjoy the surge of the sea enroute. Nantucket Island is thirty miles out on the North Atlantic from Cape Cod.

Finally pulling into sight of the island, you round Brant Point Light and the Coast Guard Station, Nantucket Harbor and the town just beyond. Welcome to another world. An extremely charming, quaint, rugged, and fascinating island. "The faraway land", according to the name that the Native Americans gave this place.
