So there I was, out on the Coconino National Forest near Sunset Crater, minding my own business. My business being in place for any great shots of the scenery at the "golden hour" around sunset.
With nothing to do but wait, watch, relax, and enjoy (a tall order, I know, but somebody's got to do it), I looked to the northeast to see a monsoon thunderstorm rain shower falling on some spot far away. Such is the nature of "monsoon" rainstorms here in the American Southwest: The hot Arizona sunshine creates cumulus clouds when there is enough moisture in from the Pacific Ocean, and then they often turn into thunderheads, creating very localized rain showers. In this image, the shower was very localized! An amazing and beautiful sight.
Photo location: Sunset Crater area, Coconino National Forest, north of Flagstaff, Arizona.
