It's a midsummer's evening on the Coconino National Forest in northern Arizona. The local "monsoon season" has begun, meaning the Jet Stream has moved far enough north to let summertime Pacific Ocean moisture this far inland. The hot, sunny Arizona days build the moisture into towering cumulus clouds, hopefully bringing rain.
And even if they don't bring rain, I always hope they are strong enough to hang around until sunset, because then they will light up with colors for me.
Photo location: Coconino National Forest, north of Flagstaff, Arizona.
