Waterfalls near Waters Meet, Ricketts Glen State Park, Pennsylvania

This photograph of the east branch of Kitchen Creek was made near "Waters Meet," the name for the location where the two stream branches join. The sunlight dappling through the foliage overhead made for a wonderful pattern of shadow and highlight.

Ricketts Glen harbors Glens Natural Area, a National Natural Landmark. The Falls Trail allows you to explore the Glens: Glen Leigh and Ganoga Glen, which are parallel branches of Kitchen Creek. All along the way you marvel at a series of wild, free-flowing waterfalls, each cascading through rock-strewn clefts in an ancient hillside. Old growth timber and diverse wildlife add to the scenic area.

Ricketts Glen State Park is one of the most scenic areas in Pennsylvania. This large park is comprised of 13,050 acres in Luzerne, Sullivan and Columbia counties, tucked away in the northeast section of the Keystone State.

Photo location: Ricketts Glen State Park, Luzerne and Sullivan Counties, Pennsylvania.
