Face of Table Falls Waterfall, Quehanna Wild Area, Pennsylvania

This waterfall photo is of Table Falls, the nickname I've given to this unnamed forest waterfall deep in the Quehanna Wild Area up on the Allegheny Plateau of northern Pennsylvania. It could just as easily be called "Altar Falls" because of the way the huge blocks or strata of sandstone look like they're stacked atop each other.

This rare photo was made at one of those fleeting times when the stream had enough volume to flow over the main "table", while still being clear rather than muddy, as it would have been shortly after a heavy rainstorm.

This photograph was made on 35mm color negative film in November 1991.

Photo location: Quehanna Wild Area, Elk State Forest, The Pennsylvania Wilds, Elk and Cameron Counties, Pennsylvania.
