This photo of a mature stand of Eastern White Pine trees (Pinus strobus L.) was made in Wykoff Run on the Allegheny Plateau in northern Pennsylvania, in July 2003. The wild rhodedendron were in bloom, and while photographing a nearby clump, I came across this pine stand. A grown over skid road and the regular spacing of the trees suggested it was planted back in the days of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Photo location: Cameron County, Pennsylvania.
