The first measurable snowfall of the season had fallen during the night at Charleston Falls in Miami County in southwest Ohio. The heavy rains of the previous days were followed by a cold front that turned rain into snow.
In this image, the spray of the waterfall has turned into ice on the rock face behind. The muddy plunge pool shows that the sediment load from the rains is not quite washed out. The falling torrents seem to consist of three main vertical columns, the broken boulders at the cliff base churning the slamming water into bright white spray and rivulets.
